Hiking Therapy

Sometimes the best conversations happen when you are moving rather than sitting across from someone in an office. Hiking therapy combines traditional counseling with the benefits of being outdoors, allowing sessions to take place while walking on the trails.

These sessions provide the same structured therapeutic approach as in-office counseling while taking advantage of the calming and restorative effects of nature. For many people, walking outdoors makes it easier to think clearly, slow down racing thoughts, and have conversations that feel more natural than a traditional office setting.

Where and When Sessions Take Place

Hiking therapy sessions take place at Rocky River Reservation and follow established walking trails that allow for comfortable conversation while moving at a relaxed pace.

These sessions are offered seasonally from May through mid-October, weather permitting.

Hiking therapy is offered for individual sessions and provides an opportunity to combine the benefits of counseling with time outdoors in one of the Cleveland area’s most scenic park systems.

Getting Started

The first step in scheduling a hiking therapy session is a brief consultation where we can talk about what you are looking for and determine whether this format feels like a good fit. If it does, we can schedule your first session and plan a time to meet on the trail.
